Lots of interest in a pub (no surprise there!), but little detail as to what this pub would be like. The same goes for the shop. What products and services would people like a shop to offer? A Post Office? What would the opening hours be? A shop/P.O. and pub could be provided in combination. With the rise of online shopping, a place for parcel deliveries and returns would be useful!
Perhaps we need a multi-functional building, perhaps run as a cooperative? Owned by the community? Many small pubs have closed their doors in recent years, so would a pub in the village be commercially viable? Perhaps it needs to be a community venture? Something different to what's offered by the Red Lion, Aubrey Arms, Old Post and the Long House (Tumble Hill).
The options would be to include something within the schools proposed extension, within a new build or an existing building. I know that the former shop and Post Office will be on the market at some point in 2018. It could have a very nice beer garden, is visible from the road, and isn't close to many homes.
Potentially, space not needed for the bar can be rented out as office space, a studio, etc.
